This simple itinerary takes you down the Clyde estuary past Toward point to the stunning islands of Cumbrae. Stop off for a light lunch in Millport, an attractive and relatively newly founded fishing village on the south coast of greater Cumbrae before sauntering back up to Kip Marina ready for an early evening handover. This makes for a perfect day out for friends or family alike, offering the typically gorgeous views of the Clyde without the stress of cruising further afield.
After a few bacon rolls, head south towards Greater Cumbrae for some fantastic nibbles and entertainment in one of the many local restaurants. Moorings are provided so no need to anchor off, and the bay is typically very well sheltered except in times of strong southerlies.
If you`ve had to beat down to Millport you should have a fantastic run back up to Kip! You`ll pass Largs marina, then Fairlie Quay to starboard, just watch out for that ferry before passing Skelmorlie (see if you spot the measured mile off Skelmorlie - marked on charts) and finally making for the power station tower which marks the entrance to Kip Marina.
